May 1947 Headline: Oldest Settlement to Get 1st Dial Phones
Kodiak, Alaska's oldest permanent settlement will have the 1st dial commercial telephone system in the Territory. The town population 2000 has never had commercial telephone service. Equipment for the new system is on route from Chicago.
